Cuttlefish Uses

Cuttlefish may be one of the more colorful of cephalopods, but it is used in many useful ways. Interestingly enough cuttlefish can be used as bait for cod and bass. You can use frozen cuttlefish or I have seen plastic cuttlefish lures. Cuttlefish (like squid) have an internal skeleton-like structure. There is a certain part of this structure called the "cuttle bone". This can be used as a mold (for metal) or as a source of calcium, and sharpening tool for birds. I have to say it really is amazing that there are so many uses for cuttlefish (other than food).
